Let's Talk: Boyfriend Dilemmas

Hey everyone! I thought I would start a little 'Let's Talk' series where I talk about problems that we face as girls and other relatable things (hopefully).
Just a tip, these posts will be all about expressing opinions and all that slightly deeper stuff, so if that doesn't float your boat, this series might not be for you.

So, as you may have picked up from my 'Dear 12 year old me' post, I have recently acquired a boyfriend. WOOOOHHH!!!
This is a big deal for me, as I used to get really worried that I would never get asked out, and that I would wind up sad and forever alone. Well girls, let me tell you that this is not the case - not for me, and not for any of you! You are all beautiful and perfect in your own ways, and there is a guy out there who sees it. And I know this sounds really cliche, but you should never change for a guy! If he likes you for who you pretend to be and not who you actually are, things will never work out well, because you can't pretend forever.

Also, let me tell you from experience, that having a boyfriend is difficult. Maybe not for everyone, but for me, he's another (wonderful) thing for me to juggle. Mainly because I now have two different friendship groups, and my best friend is very clingy (but I still love her to bits) and she always wants me to sit with her group. It sounds so trivial, I know, but it's more difficult than it sounds!

And there's always that one friend who is secretly jealous of all the couples around her, but she is too proud to say this, so instead she says that she will always be forever alone and she wouldn't want it any other way. (Never be too proud to say what you think guys, it just makes things worse!)
I had a friend come up to me yesterday (she is the proudest person I know, and honestly, it gets really annoying), and she asked me if I was sick of all the hugs from my boyfriend yet, because she didn't like all the couples around her when she didn't have a boyfriend. Yeah, she basically asked me if I wanted to break up with him so that she wouldn't feel so left out!
Side note: this girl had been asked out by one of our friends earlier that day, but she said no.

Just in case I suggested otherwise, I do love my boyfriend, he is the best thing that has happened to me this year!

So that's all I have for today, as I am in the middle of exams (nooooooo!!!), but please leave your thoughts about this post down below, or maybe even things you struggle with if you have/have had a boyfriend (maybe I could do a part 2?)
Also, what do you think of this Let's Talk series? Do you guys think it's a good idea? Feel free to leave suggestions for future posts, because I'm gonna run out some day!

Lots of love, Little Robin

Black Friday Paris Bombings

Imagine one day you and your friends start listening to a band. You all really like the music. Turns out, that band is playing at a concert, at the Bataclan concert hall in Paris. You buy tickets.
The day comes. You wake up and tell your friends how excited you are to finally see this band. You hastily leave the house because your friend's waiting outside to pick you up. You tell your mother goodbye, you barely acknowledge your brothers and sisters. You don't tell them you love them. You don't know this is the last night of your life.
As you're at the concert having the time of your life, the atmosphere changes. The doors lock and you're isolated in that room. You're now a hostage. You're scared. You wish you could call your mother, but you didn't buy credit because you thought this would be just another night out. People start to scream and you're scared. Unsure of what's to come. Bombs begin being detonated. Your young life is taken. You didn't even get to say goodbye to your family.

This has been the worst attack in Paris since World War 2.

Take a moment to appreciate your life, because it could have been you.

My Thoughts On Halloween

Hey everyone!
So, unless you have been living under a rock, you would all know that it was Halloween the other day, and I thought I would share my views on the whole 'Spooky Holiday' thing.

DISCLAIMER: If you celebrate Halloween, this is nothing against you (all my friends celebrate it too and I love them all), this is just my opinion.

Now, I don't really see the appeal - I'm not a horror kind of girl. Even if it's only really mild horror, I just freak out and leave the room. It just doesn't work for me. I watched a movie once in primary school, (something about a purple gemstone or something) and it wasn't even scary. It was a cartoon, there were some bear-looking monsters, and all my classmates were completely fine with it. But not me! Nope, I was terrified - I left the room shaking and had nightmares for weeks!

Looking back, I was (and still am) a bit of a scardy-cat, and I am not adventurous at all, so much so that I will always have chocolate ice-cream, order the same food at a restaurant, and refuse to watch any movies created before I was born!
So, naturally the whole horror thing doesn't really appeal to me - one of the reasons I don't celebrate Halloween.

Also, you know how your parents tell you all your life NEVER to accept food from a stranger, and to NEVER go into a strangers' house? Well I can't help see the irony that Halloween is a day/night when parents send their kids out to go to (and sometimes into) strangers' homes and accept food from said stranger.
It's like a new rule: "You are not allowed to accept food from strangers or enter their houses UNLESS it is October 31st!

Side note: I'm Australian, and Halloween is an American thing, so...

Another obvious point is that my religion is against that sort of stuff, and I've sort of been 'raised against it'. But, I am at the age now where I could decide to celebrate Halloween if I wanted to, but I personally just don't like it.

Thank you guys so much for reading, and let me know your opinions on Halloween in the comments below.
Also, I know I haven't been posting very regularly of late, but I do have end of year exams coming up in a few weeks, so you may not hear from me until after that (in which case, I apologise in advance!)

My Summer Bucket List!

When I woke up this morning, I was in my oversized T-shirt and lying under a sheet instead of a duvet. This was when I realised it is almost summer!
Summer is my favourite season of the year, because it includes Christmas, swimming, New Year, no school, and lots of sleeping in! What's not to love?

Last year, most of my favourite memories were made in summer, and thinking back to them now makes me all warm and happy! You know in movies when there's a montage of different scenes and the characters life seems really great and flawless, and you wish you could be them? That's kind of how I feel. All my memories of summer mix into one big, happy moment and I want to relive those days over and over again. Does anyone else get that?

Well, I want to have this every year, and to make the most of Summer time instead of sitting in-front of the TV for hours on end because there's 'nothing else to do'. So, I've created my 2015 (to 2016) summer bucket list (even though it's not even summer yet!) to make sure I have the best time these Summer holidays:
  • Have heaps of pool parties/BBQ's and invite heaps of friends over
  • Go shopping for Boxing Day sales and buy heaps of new clothes
  • Have a sleepover/chick-flicks movie marathon night with heaps of junk food
  • Hang out at the beach as often as I can
  • Get an awesome tan!
  • Get a job so I can buy Christmas presents (and maybe loads of clothes for myself?)
  • Redecorate my room so it looks presentable (first world problems)

I know most of you have already had summer and are preparing for winter now, but does anyone have any other ideas I could add to my list? I hate boring summers (and I know I'm not alone there) so  maybe you guys could help me have an AWESOME summer instead.
I hope you all enjoyed this post, and thank you so much for reading!

Lots of love, Little Robin

Times Gone By Tag!

Hello everyone!
I've wanted to create a tag for quite a while now, and now I have! It's called the 'Times Gone By' tag (as you can probably tell from the title), and I'm quite proud of it, to be honest! So without further ado, here are the rules:

1. Thank the person who nominated you and post a link to their blog in your post

2. Display the 'Times Gone By badge in your post

3. Answer the 10 questions below

4. Tag at least 5 other bloggers

6. List these rules in your post and inform the bloggers you have tagged that they have been tagged to do the 'Times Gone By' tag and provide a link to your post so they know what to do.

I tag:

6. Anyone else who wants to do it

And here are your questions guys:

1. What was your favourite book/series when you were younger?

2. Oldest memory?

3. Favourite Disney princess/character

4. First word?

5. Do you have a funny story from when you were young?

6. What was the best birthday present you ever got, and why?

7. Do you have a certain item from when you were little that you just don't want to get rid of, even though you don't need it any more?

8. What were some of your favourite TV shows when you were young?

9. Did you have a favourite teddy/doll

10. Did you have a costume/outfit etc. that you used to wear all the time?

So there you have it guys - this is my 'Times Gone By' tag! I hope you have fun answering the questions and I look forward to reading your answers. That's all for now!

Dear 12 year old me,

brush your hair. You might not notice it or think it looks too bad, but trust me, it is (I've seen photos!). When you wake up, just look in the mirror and use that new hairbrush for 5 minutes. You know, that one Mum bought you to try and encourage you to brush your hair? Take the hint!

Also, get rid of the too big, bright blue Crocs. You won't notice at the time, but they look hideous. Take them off and get mum to buy you a less expensive pair of Vans or something. I don't care what you wear, as long as they're not Crocs.

Oh, whilst on the subject of fashion, you don't need to wear and keep every single hand-me-down you are given. Just because you are a midget, doesn't mean that you don't get a say in what you wear. Because to be honest, you really have no sense of fashion. Look at it this way - these people have either given you their clothes because they are too young for them now, or they are too small for them now. So this means that you are wearing clothes that are too young for you. So pass on the ones you don't want, and get Mum to take you shopping. Otherwise, your mum will end up buying you a bright turquoise jumper with a sequined scull dog on the front when you are 15 because she is used to you dressing young! Do yourself a favour and develop a sense of fashion early. Thanks.

Now onto slightly cheesier subjects - make the most of your last year of school. Because it is actually the best year of school you will ever have. And once you leave, you will be constantly wishing that you had enjoyed your life in year 7 more and that you could repeat it.

Once you reach your second year of high school, you will begin to worry that you will never get a boyfriend - don't worry, you will. So just enjoy being alone, because you don't have to juggle spending time with your friends and your boyfriend. It's difficult!

And remember to enjoy your Europe trip, even though it gets to like, 40 degrees (Celsius) and the heat is too much to deal with. You will miss it once you're back home! Also, maybe don't spend as much money on souvenirs for friends - they're not expecting much!

What else.. oh! Study for tests and do your homework! It seems pointless at the time, but trading work for an hour of the Internet will come back to bight you the next day. Just put in a little bit more effort and you might not end up failing every maths and science test! Teachers don't give you homework for no reason and, believe it or not, they actually do want what's best for you (hard to believe, I know!).

So that's it I guess. Just do what I've written above and you should be absolutely fine!

Lots of love, Little Robin

What's in my makeup bag?

Hello everyone!
Today I thought I would do a post about my everyday makeup products and what I have been loving beauty wise. So let's get started!

Maybelline New Dream Pure BB Cream - Light

I only bought this BB cream recently, but I have loved it from the very beginning. I have the shade 'Light', and it is a perfect colour match for me. It has very good coverage, and it has an SPF of 15, which is good as we head into Spring. I've found that I have less trouble with spots on my face when I use this, as opposed to using a foundation and concealer, because it doesn't clog up my pores as much. This is a product that I would highly recommend for any of you out there looking for a good BB cream that doesn't cost a fortune.

BYS Liquid Foundation - Nude

This BYS foundation has pretty good coverage it really evens out my skin tone and helps to conceal any spots I might have on my face (just a note, there are quite a few BYS products in my makeup bag, mainly because they are very inexpensive). However, I do tend to steer away from foundation (and concealer) for everyday use, and instead use my BB cream, because it will clog up my pores more and it takes a lot longer to blend in.

Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer - Classic Beige

This concealer has lasted me quite a while - I mentioned it in a haul post earlier this year - but the bottle is practically empty, which makes me sad because no one seems to have my shade when I go looking for it. But when there is actually stuff in the bottle, it is a great product. It is easy to blend, has very good coverage, and tends to last a long time (if I use a primer and powder, because my face is quite oily). Definitely a thumbs up for this concealer!

 BYS Compact Powder - Light

This is an okay powder, because it keeps my makeup on for most of the day, but it tends to cling to parts of my face where my makeup might have been applied a bit thicker. It does have a mat finish, so if you prefer more of a dewy finish, this one's probably not for you.

 BYS Blusher - Candyfloss

I love this blusher, as it's not too bright and it stays on fairly well. It's not too pigmented, so the more you apply, the darker it will become. This makes it perfect for everyday use because I try to keep my makeup minimal, unless I'm going on a night out.

Designer Brands Eye Shadows Pallet

This is a great pallet of eye shadows because it has a large range of dark and light colours, which means they can be used for everyday use and for nights out. They aren't very pigmented though, so the lighter colours especially need quite a bit to be applied before it clearly shows through.

 Covergirl Flamed Out Mascara

I love this mascara because it doesn't clump on my eyelashes, like some of my mascaras do, and it stays on for a super long time (if I go to bed and I forget to take my makeup off, it will still be there the next morning!). It also makes my eyelashes quite stiff, which I know some people don't like, but I do because it curls my lashes for me, so I don't have to do it with eyelash curlers.

Essence Nude lip gloss - Taste The Sweets

I am obsessed with this lip gloss! It looks gorgeous, it's appropriate for school because it is a nude colour, and it tastes delicious. It is also very easy to apply, but it tends to wear off during the day, so maybe take it with you so you can reapply it later on.

TBN Lipstick - Pout Those Lips Girl (yes, that is the colour!)

This is a gorgeous coloured lipstick, that I love to wear when I'm going out at night, or even on the weekend during Autumn and Winter. It stays on for a long time, and doesn't feel uncomfortable once it is applied. I just wanted to include this because it is more of a fancy alternative to the lip gloss.

So there we go - that is what's in my makeup bag at the moment. I hope you enjoyed this post and let me know if you have any of these products or if you want to see more posts like this.
Thanks for reading guys!

Thoughts on Father's Day

Hello lovelies!
So, it is that time of year again when we celebrate our fathers and what they mean to us.
FATHER'S DAY!
I hope you all spent plenty of time with your dads today and spoilt them rotten with breakfast in bed and hugs galore!
For me, I not only celebrate my earthly father on Father's Day, but my heavenly father as well. This is a day when I truly sit back and thank my God for everything he has done for me, because sometimes my life gets so busy that I forget to acknowledge Him. This, of course, is awful, and I'm going to really try to fix this.
So remember to give your dads a huge hug and remind them how much they mean to you guys, for all those times that you forget!
Thank you all for reading and I will see you all next week with another post!

Studying Tips n Tricks

I am one of those people who are really bad at studying because I find it really hard to concentrate on the thing I'm supposed to be doing. For example, I should probably be doing homework right now, but instead I'm writing a blog post. Oh well.
I know I'm not the only one who finds it hard to concentrate, so I thought I'd share some tips that have helped me to keep on track lately.

Work in a clean environment
When I say 'environment', I mean keep you desk, room, or wherever you work tidy and not cluttered with everything you own. I am very guilty of living in a messy bedroom and working on a messy desk, so I know how difficult it makes things. It clutters your mind and becomes very distracting.

Keep your stuff organised
I am someone who has no storage area for school stuff, and that really comes back to bite me every morning when I'm having to find all my books at the last minute because I'm really unorganised. Having shelves, drawers or something to keep your stuff in a certain place will make it easier to find your things.

Start with what you like
If you begin your study day/afternoon with something you don't enjoy - so in my case, maths - then you will end up staring at a blank page and procrastinating. But if you start with a subject you enjoy, then you will find it easier to stay on top of things.
That said, don't do everything fun at the beginning; leave one of your favourite subjects until the very end to reward yourself with (if that makes sense)

Take breaks
Take a short five or ten minute break about every half an hour. This will keep your brain active and you will find it easier to stay on top of what you have to do and not get distracted.

Time how long you are actually working for
This one I haven't actually tried out yet, but I think it sounds like a really good idea (my mum suggested it to me). Half the time that I spend "studying" will probably be spent on YouTube, listening to music and blogging. Timing how long you actually work for will give you a good indication as to if you need to focus more and this is why you're failing you tests *cough* me *cough*, or if you are on target and have time to watch a bit of TV before bed.

Don't get distracted by the Internet
The Internet is a cunning thing that reels you in to its trap and before you realise it, you've spent 2 hours on YouTube and have only written out half of the first question for your Science homework that's due tomorrow. Recipe for disaster people.

Hope this was helpful for some of you!

Also, in case some of you missed my last post, I am creating a video to celebrate 6 months of Little Teen's Blog, and I want to include all of yor reasons for starting a blog. (Your blog address will also be included). So if you want to check that out, click here.

I'm back! and a birthday in need of celebrating...

Hello everybody!

Exams are over, and I am back! *excitedly runs around the room like a crazy maniac*
I've really missed blogging, but it's also been a good break for me, 'cause now I'm back fresh and ready, with loads of new ideas.

So, here is my 'plan of attack':
I've decided to post every Sunday, and occasionally an extra or two during the week if you're lucky. I'm also going to try backup posts, so that I don't have to rush to write a  new one to get it posted on time. I'm not sure where I'm going to find the extra time for this, but I'll find somewhere to slot it into my timetable.

And now, some exciting news...

MY BLOG HAS TURNED 6 MONTHS OLD!!!

Yes, I have now spent 6 months writing 'Little Teen's Blog' and I already have a total of 14 followers!!!
WHAT?!
So, I thought that this called for a celebration.

To celebrate, I want to make a short film about not only my blog, but the community of bloggers around me. There are so many reasons why we choose to start a blog, so I would love it if you could leave your reason(s) in a comment below, and your blog name and comment will be included in the video.
(The video will be posted in the next couple of weeks)

Thanks so much guys!

Lots of love, Little Robin

Blogging Break!!!!!!

So, as many of you will have realised, I have not been posting very regularly.
No, I'm not being lazy - I really want to blog, but I have exams coming up, so I've been trying to focus on not failing, which hasn't left much time for blogging :(

So, instead of leaving you guys wondering if I'm still alive or not, I've decided to take a blogging break!

In a few weeks, I'll be back refreshed, have plenty of time, and loads of new post ideas!!!
Yay!

So, ciao for now, and I will see you soon :)

100 Years!!!

G'day mates! (haha)

As some of you might know, on Saturday here in 'The Land Down Under', (Australia) we celebrated 100 years since the ANZACs (Australian and New Zealand Army Coorperation) landed in Gallipoli. It was a HUGE event - there was even a dawn service at Gallipoli, which only had a number of seats available, so names were drawn out of a hat. Needless to say, I wasn't up that early to watch it on TV (even with the time distance)!

I was, however in the march at the city, which was slightly nerve-wracking, as the were TV camera's and HEAPS of people!!! It was freezing cold when I got there, even though we were in long sleeves and pants.

Also, I'd heard that the Police had foiled a possible terrorist attack in Melbourne that was going to be carried out on ANZAC day and, because I'm a worry freak, I was scared the same thing was going to happen here! I actually got legit scared and was thinking about what would happen if there was an attack - how would I find my family? How would we get away? etc. Needless to say, nothing happened, I was over-reacting, and we got to laugh at all the funny outfits that other marchers had to wear!

I felt really proud of my country on Saturday - I know it sounds really cheesy, but it's true. I realised how lucky I was to be part of this anniversary of the ANZACS; to be able to wear my great uncle's medals (from WW2, but that doesn't matter) and march in honour of what all those brave young men did at Gallipoli to protect us.

Any other Aussies out there reading this post? How did you feel last weekend?

Lots of love, Little Robin

The story of my holidays

Hello everyone!

Now that the holidays have been and gone, I thought I'd share some of the stuff that I got up to in an attempt to stop myself from dying with boredom. You guys get bored in the holidays too, right? Just me? Okay.

...

Anyway, for the first week of the holidays (we get two weeks off), my family and I took an annual trip up to Moore River with a few other family friends, which I will be posting photos of soon... not sure when. Usually, I have a friend who comes up with her parents as well, but this year she was overseas, and I was doomed to be alone for a week. Except, my brain actually decided to work (for a while - haha) and I got the ingenious idea...

TO INVITE ANOTHER FRIEND!

Problem solved! She could only stay for the first few days however, so after some decidedly terrible weather (which is a shame, because all you can really do up there is swim at the beach), we took her back home and brought up another 'play mate' for me!

(Also, after we took my first friend home, the weather went from rainy and stormy to sunny blue skies all day!)

Nothing very different happened for the rest of the week, but the second week was slightly more eventful.
1. I went shopping and bought birthday presents for my friend
2. I went to see Insurgent - OH MY GOSH IT WAS SO AMAZING AND I'M REALLY GLAD AND REALLY MAD BECAUSE THEY'RE TURNING THE THIRD BOOK INTO TWO PARTS!!! (apparently) I'm glad because it means the series will last longer, but it will also take longer to see the finale and it will cost me more :) / :(
3. I went to my friend's birthday party which was heaps of fun, and heaps of lols
4. Watched TV, slept, ate, played The Sims, slept, did homework, ate, and slept.
Did I mention that I slept?

And that pretty much sums up my holidays! What did you guys get up to whilst free of school (if you had holidays, I know most of you live in different countries, ie. not Australia), and give me some tips on how to occupy my time when I have way too much to spare.
I need help!!!

Thanks for reading, you guys are the best!

Lots of love, Little Robin

I'm back!

First off,

I'M SORRY!!!!!!

I haven't posted in absolutely ages, and I'm really sorry! I was away for the first week of the holidays, and I've also had heaps of homework, and I've been really annoyed that I haven't been able to think of any content worthy of a blog post. Sorry!

Moving on...

Since the last week of term 1 ended, my brain has gone into I-don't-know-what-to-do-with-my-life-oh-my-gosh-my-brain's-been-switched-off-completely mode, and I haven't really achieved much. Except for the five hours I spent doing homework today when I realised the threat of overdue homework was drawing near and present and I actually managed to get something done, but that's a story for another time.

Therefore, I haven't had time to put enough effort into my posts and I end up deleting them because they are taking too long to complete. So this is just a message to say that I have been writing posts, just not very successfully. I really am trying.

I have a theory that it is easier for me to think and find time to do stuff when I am most busy. For example: during the holidays you know you need to have two assignments finished before school goes back, but you think, "I'll have time to do that next week." And then you end up in a wild dash the day before school goes back because you still haven't done anything.
But during school weeks, you have a schedule. There are strict due dates and deadlines that tasks need to be finished by, which usually makes it easier to stay on task.
And I think that's why I have been able to post a lot more during the school term.

Anyway, I read a post a while back (I can't remember where) that recommended the use of 'back-up posts'. I think this is a good idea, because I will be able to post more often, and still have time to do my school work. I'm not sure if I'll actually get around to this because I'm quite lazy, but I'm going to try.

I will be posting again before school goes back (either today or tomorrow) so see you then!

Lots of love, Little Robin

The Literature Photo Tag

A while back, I was tagged by Miss Internet to do the Literature Photography Tag! So let's get started!!
Just a note, I know this post is SUPER late, I kind of forgot about it. Sorry!

"to Narnia" (Chronicles of Narnia) - picture of a closet or door
This door plays a very important role in my day to day life, as it is the entrance to my private stronghold (my bedroom).

"Anaklusmos/Riptide" (Percy Jackson and the Olympians) - picture of a pen
This pen was given to me by a mentor of mine when I got baptised last year. It reads, "Emmanuel God With Us" (BTW, my name is not Emmanuel, it was Jesus' other name - yeah, he had two names!)

"to seek a great perhaps" (Looking for Alaska) - picture of a map
This is the map we kept when we (my family and I) went on a trip around Australia the other year. Each different colour represents where we travelled each day.

"a place just for us" (Bridge to Terabithia) - picture of the place you read
I read in a corner of my room on a bean-bag/chair with a lamp bought specifically for this purpose.

"Green Eggs and Ham" (Green Eggs and Ham) - a photo of your least/most favourite food
What can I say? It's cheesecake.

"Mr. Browne's Precepts" (Wonder) - a handwritten quote/saying you live by
My mum gave me a longer version of this quote when I got baptised and it now hangs over my mirror, where I can see it every day.

"The Silver Shoes" (The Wizard of Oz) - favourite pair of shoes
These are the shoes a wore in year seven when I performed a solo at for the first time - in front of 3,000 people!!!

"Time Travelling" (When You Reach Me) - photo of a memory
Meet 'Big Bear'. He used to sit on the end of my bed when I was younger and protect me from the monster under the bed.

 Who I tagged:

The Rules

- Post your pictures with the original tag graphic

- There are eight prompts. All of these are inspird by books, many of which people have heard and haven't heard of. Take a photo that corresponds to the prompts.

- Tag at least 3 bloggers. Spread the wonderful disease! You might also want to add extra prompts for the people you tag!

Lots of love, Little Robin
